This weeks Parasha is Parashat Lech Lecha 📖
The pasuk above makes it sound like the journey to Canaan was a short one. Why? The Torah is teaching us how to live life successfully. So, How?
Avraham embarked on the journey with a goal… to go where he was meant to go, and he REMAINED focused on that goal. And that is how we need to live our lives.
Yes, we all have individual, unique lives and missions but when the time comes, AD 120, to leave this world we need to leave it without regrets. That IS the goal. Not regrets of life, what you could have or should have done, but regrets of not doing more mitzvot!
To grow and live your life, you also have got to leave your past. Hashem guaranteed Avraham would succeed, but He didn’t even tell him where he was going. And that is the point! It’s not about the destination. It’s about the journey! Avraham Avinu, couldn’t be Avraham Avinu unless he left his fathers home of idol worship and the negative place he was in.
To rise to your higher self, your neshama self, you need to let go of anger, hurt, bad memories because if it weighs you down, you aren’t able to go any further on your path. All it will do is consume you, depress you and make you sicker. As a Jew, we don’t live in our past, we learn from our past.
Staying focused on the goals, your goals, things that matters to you, if you become aware of them and set your sights on them, it’s not something that is an impossibility. We just have to decide that we want it.
